Lake Bob Sandlin State Park, TX

My first camping trip since relocating to Texas, and the second Texas state park visited (Palo Duro Canyon was the first, back in 2022).
I wasn't sure I wanted to camp since it was so hot (heat index 101, humidity 85%), but decided to accompany my brother and his wife since they needed to do a shake down of their new Class C. I also wanted to test out Roxie (my rig)'s lithium conversion and get re-acquainted with RV camping before my trip up north in August. Besides, the campsite I booked had electricity so I would not have to depend on the generator to run the AC. I ended up hooked to shore power with the AC running the whole time. Took the opportunity to fix a few issues: peeling wall paper, verified the new mattress was comfy (forgot pillows, luckily my sister-in-law had extras) and made sure the stove worked.
On the other hand, my brother found some major problems that will require sending the vehicle back to the dealership for repairs before they leave for Canada in July.
The park itself was very nice, not a lot of people since it was the middle of the week. Our sites were spacious and shady, with somewhat narrow concrete pads. Clean restrooms/showers located between the Fort Sherman and Cherokee Trace loops. There was a dump specifically for cassette toilets/totes next to the restrooms, although I did not need to use it since we were there for 2 nights only.
The park has a canoe launch area, a nice fishing pier with fish cleaning, a trout pond (not in season) and marked hiking trails. Even in the morning, it was too hot to go hiking. We did some fishing. I caught a couple of baby bluegills. To make me feel better, my brother asked ChatGPT to make the fish look bigger. The result (photo was on his phone) was hilarious!
I lost interest in fishing pretty quickly; it was just too hot and humid. My brother and his wife continued to fish until dark; I decided to walk the two miles back to my campsite and ended with a slight sunburn. Next time I'll drive my vehicle separately. We all agreed that we will come back when the weather is cooler, and try to get the sites that are right next to the lake.
