Kyoto: Arashiyama Bamboo Grove

Our second day in Kyoto, got up early and walked to the donut shop nearby. Along the way, saw this interesting statute in the front of a store, other similar statutes elsewhere. Found out that this is a Tanuki statute, or "racoon dog", meant to bring good luck and prosperity to the store. Bought some for breakfast at our hotel.
We took the train to the Arashiyama Bamboo Grove. We walked over a wide river into a busy street towards the trail where the bamboo grove was located.
The bamboo plants were very tall and provided a lot of shade on the trail, kept the walk cool. Not much else there, it did not take us long to get back on the street. For dinner, we had Udon restaurant in a small restaurant in a mall.
