All things Beatles, Liverpool, England
I did not have a shore excursion in Liverpool. Instead I joined five of my cruise mates, led by CJ, who negotiated a private tour with a taxi driver. We visited places associated with the Beatles, with stories (some tall, I suspect) from the driver, who claimed his brother knew someone who were friends with Paul and John. We covered a lot of ground in that minivan taxi. Got to sites of interest without spending time walking since the minivan could park close by, including on the curb (with the driver waiting). The 3 hour tour cost each of us about 40 pounds only. The photos below speak for themselves!
The two tombstones below were supposedly related to the song Eleanor Rigby.
After the tour, we walked around town.
Went to a local restaurant for a late lunch, where I ordered scouse, the Liverpudlian dish which is a meat stew with root vegetables. It was served with pickled cabbage and beets, and a roll. A lot of food, but so very good, especially with a pint of beer!
Back on the ship, the evening's show was a tribute to the Beatles. The band was excellent, very well performed!
