Suwanee River State Park, FL
Checked out of Manatee Springs SP this morning, wanted to visit Ichetucknee Springs SP on the way to Suwanee River SP for one night of camping. Had looked forward to tubing down the springs which my friend from Site 13 said is a not-to-be missed experience. Unfortunately the weather did not cooperate. The dark skies threatened rain; I decided to leave Ichetucknee Springs for a future trip.
It was pouring when I reached Suwanee River SP; the ranger warned that it was expected to rain the whole night and the next morning as well. My campsite was wet and gloomy. Many of the campers around me had kayaks or canoes at their sites but nobody was going anywhere this evening. A couple was doing laundry outside the restrooms, the washer and dryer looked new. The lady told me that unlike the dryer, the washer worked without needing to feed it quarters. With nothing else to do (and limited cell reception) I did the laundry.
With the rain, there was no way to cook outside, so dinner consisted of a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, fruit and salad. I actually got pretty comfy inside Millie. By now I figured how to move things around to make space for my low camping chair and the toilet worked well as an ottoman. The sun and moon roofs gave the illusion of space. Did a bit of hand quilting to pass the time.
