Hiking Fontainebleau SP trails and a short visit to New Orleans

Second full day at Fontainebleau State Park.
Spent the morning exploring the Park, hiked a couple of the trails: disappointed that the alligator boardwalk was closed.
The photo above is what's left of an old sugar mill in the former plantation.

There was a nice fishing pier and beach area at the edge of Lake Ponchatrain.
I was done exploring by 1 pm and decided on the spur of the moment to go down to New Orleans. Interesting 50 min. drive over the Causeway ($5 toll), as expected, somewhat stressful driving into the French Quarter, missing a few turns. Was very lucky to find a parking spot on the street a block away from touristy Decatur St. There were a lot of people on the streets, and jazz bands playing on the sidewalks.
I wanted to get coffee and beignets at Cafe du Monde but the lines were crazy long, so I settled for a photo instead.
On the way back to the campground, I stopped at Rousses Market, a New Orleans grocery chain which meant it stocked local food. Bought some boudin, cracklin, fresh catfish and hot boiled jumbo shrimp as well as a jar of community coffee. By the time I finished my appetizers; cheese, boiled shrimp and cracklin with wine, there was no room for dinner. Packed everything up in Millie since storms were predicted for the morning.
